Hello again needanID,
Keep in mind that for the ROTJ Royal Guard, the gloves will be covered by the inner tunic. This means two things, make your sleeves wide enough so that this is easy to do and, from my perspective I'd follow the same rules as if you were getting fitted for a suit. You should be able to grasp the bottom part of the sleeve once you cusp your hand backwards. This will give you comfort and a great look.
Hope that helps.

Hello all. Sorry about the delay. Work and grad school got the better of me. Now that the semester is over I can start up work again. I was about to hem the sleeves and bottom of the robe but I figured the hems could change once I got my obi on. So getting to that, the standard is 3-4 inches wide with a 1 inch strip in the middle? With a height of 6' I figure 4 inches would look better. Is there a pattern that is recommended?

Its all ratio pretty much. As most folks are roughly around the 6 foot 1.83 meter height 3 was the average and 1 for the middle was so that it was centered.

OK. This is what I came up with as a idea for the obi. This is still a work in progress and I didn't want to sew up the edges to get a 3-4" wide obi till I was sure I was on the right track. The middle is an inch wide.
Some other sashes on here look like a 1 inch ribbon, others have a visible seam 1" strip others might be a 1" hidden seam.

That works too - I have a two part but if you can simulate the two parts in one in my opinion that if fine.

Ok. I think the inner robes are done. I had my wife measure twice and she swears the hem is 3 inches from the ground.
Now to start on the outer robes.

That looks great. The outer robes will just need to be a tad longer to cover the underrobes but not overly long to be stepped on or dragging on the ground.
