One suggestion if you do end up going down the AOTC route and need the burgundy/wine coloured suede gloves is to get the ones from Keep Trooping (https://keeptrooping.com/product/guardian-glove/). They are pricey but are the right colour and design. By all means try the dye option first, but if that doesn't work out for whatever reason, at least you have a backup option.
Hope this helps, and all the best with your build whatever you decide!

Re: Need Help reviewing my build
Thank you for the link! I will definitely try to dye first and see if it is remotely acceptable. I will definitely fall back on the proper gloves if it doesn’t pan out.
OMG is the keeptrooping imperial guard robe valid for 501st approval?! I could have saved so much time and effort…

No worries, glad to assist. All the best with the dyeing process.
Yes, many of us (myself included) have been approved with Keep Trooping (formerly Imperial Boots) guard robes. Their version is specifically for the ROTJ Royal Guards (so only one slit for the right arm for example), but they're high quality robes and provide all the necessary soft parts if you buy a full set. The business is run by a 501st member whose aim is to make his work approvable, but as with everything the robes need to be tailored to fit the individual (width and length in particular).

I did some touch ups on 2 outfits because I can't get the colors right. Here are 2 pictures of each set with 2 different gloves (R is leather, L is suede).
Both robes have 2 openings at this time. This may cause some confusion for it half sounds like a AOTC build instead of a ROTS build. I will make adjustments based on recommendations/suggestions here. Here is the sash I made and the inner robe as well. The lighter outer robe has an inner lining that "matches" the inner robe. The darker outer robe has a lining that is noticeably darker than the inner robe.
Though the picture for the lighter outer robe appears short, it is 1 inch from the ground when arms are lowered.
Thanks for any feedback!

Okay, I think the best thing to do is to go over each variation (ROTS vs AOTC) and see which variation your costume matches.
Caveat: Im going to reiterate that you should involve your GML if you haven’t yet, as they will have final say in your approval. You can use this thread as advice and FYI but final decisions are on them.

Caveat: Im going to reiterate that you should involve your GML if you haven’t yet, as they will have final say in your approval. You can use this thread as advice and FYI but final decisions are on them.
Helmet:
- Same specs for both variations, and I think your helmet is fine.
- AOTC: There is an arm opening on both sides on the outer robe.
- ROTS: There are four openings for the wearer’s arms. These are done in the style of a windmill pattern with the arm “sleeves” being attached at the shoulder with a seam to the length of the wearer’s underarm before opening into the slits.
- Since your robes only have 2 openings, the AOTC configuration is the only choice and might be the determining factor since retailoring the robe to have 4x openings sounds difficult.
- Similar wording in both AOTC and ROTS, with AOTC having a specific distance from the ground of 3”. I think yours is ok, since there is no specification regarding cuffs, collar or closures. Sash looks ok.
- AOTC: Burgundy or wine coloured cloth or suede gloves with no extraneous straps, buckles or ornamental stitching.
The gloves are to cover the wearer’s wrists. It is preferable if the gloves reach to mid forearm. Gloves are worn underneath the inner robe.
Any Shiny, Silk, Satin or Leather Gloves are NOT accepted. - ROTS: Dark red leather gloves with no extraneous straps/buckles or ornamental stitching.
The gloves should be long enough to cover the wearer’s wrists. Gloves that are long enough to reach to the middle of the forearm are preferable. Gloves are worn overtop of the inner robe sleeves. - Pretty clear, since by your pictures I can see the dyed leather gloves match AOTC specs, though ideally they go higher up the wrist. You may need to make sure your GML agrees that they meet the “The gloves are to cover the wearer’s wrists.” spec.
- AOTC: Black, texture-less, leather/synthetic leather (non glossy) “Jack” boots”, squared toe (rounded toe in ladies styles are acceptable), with a relatively conservative heel, no visible straps/buckles, or ornamental stitching; that reach high enough to cover the wearer’s ankles.
- ROTS: **OPTIONAL** Black boots, pointed toe, with a relatively conservative heel. There are no visible straps, buckles, or ornamental stitching. The boots cover the wearer’s ankles.
- Could go either way, since AOTC also allows for “rounded toe in ladies style” and it doesn’t forbid a pointed toe. and it doesn’t have ornamental stitching, and the zipper won’t be visible. They also cover your ankles.
- Based on the robes alone, I think you should aim for an AOTC variation. Consult your GML re: gloves and boots as to what they think of them, and I think robes-wise go with the one that matches your helmet better.

Re: Need Help reviewing my build
Hey byun21,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, and thanks Paolo for the detailed review. I agree with him - with what you've got there, an AOTC build seems the right way to go.
In addition to Paolo's comments, I personally think the robes in the first picture look much better for colour and design, with the right pleat effect as required for AOTC. Just make sure the helmet colour is a close enough match - it might come down to the right lighting.
It's also important that the outer robes are lined with the same material and colour as the inner robes. Just remember as well that the gloves need to fit under the sleeves of the inner robe for AOTC.
Hope this helps, and all the best moving forward with your build. Keep posting your progress and we'll keep supporting you as best we can.
