I've started work on the inner robe. Can I please get input if we are on the right track here? I know it still has to be hemmed. It is just basted together right now. The sash will help it fit a little better too.

How is the neckline usually finished?

Do I need to make the sleeves skinnier?

The neck is usually finished with a mandarin style collar. As for the sleeves, I would make them more form fitting, they are very large in your photos.

A 60%-off coupon at Joann's netted me this velveteen at a great price.

Here is the inner robe with the Obi. Lighting is terrible, but you can see shape. Still need to hem it. Hoping to start the outer robe on Sunday.

You have the right colours for inner robe and sash. The outer robe is most challenging and gave me problems. The thing to remember is keep arm slits to the front, NOT the sides. Hem must be an inch off ground all way round. The back of the outer robe kind of comes around to the front to cover any Seams. No seams should show.

This photo of me may explain better.

And posting a letter. Note the position of arm slits. Up to the armpits and to the front.

Had the prototype at the seamstress tonight. I'd like feedback, please. If there are changes that need to be made, the more specific the feedback, the better, so I can properly explain to her. Thanks!

Here are some different angles:

On the back, she was going to make gathers to make more flow, and said once it is pressed, you wouldn't see the seam like that.

After taking those, we tried something different with the left shoulder. We made the front piece on top of the shoulder, rather than underneath.

Which way is better?

Overall thoughts and comments?

The front piece should be over top of both sides, not underneath as you currently have it in your first set... the second set is getting closer, just make the small adjustment to have both sides over top and you have started.

Thank you. I will pass that feedback along. I feel like I'm finally getting close on this costume. :trsuit:
