I haven't looked recently at their site, but as long as they are not excluded from approved materials then you *should* be ok.

Just make sure they meet the CRL requirements:
- Burgundy or wine coloured cloth or suede gloves with no extraneous straps, buckles or ornamental stitching. The gloves are to cover the wearer's wrists. Gloves that reach the middle of the forearm are preferable. Gloves are worn underneath the inner robe sleeves.
- Shiny, Silk, Satin or Leather Gloves are NOT accepted.

Talking with my seamstress, she said that the velvet inner lining of the outer robe would create a lot of friction with the velvet inner robe. Has anyone else experienced this and would you combat it?

It does. Only really when putting the outer robe on for me.

When putting the outer robe on, the lining bunches a little as it slides down aginst the inner, particularly around the shoulders in my case. I just move it back into place and then all is good, with no more issues during the troop at all. It doesn't just stick to it.

Oh that's not bad at all. Thanks for the info!

In regards to friction and bunching up, material choice can make a big difference. Cotton (what velveteen is usually made of) is one of the clingiest materials that I have ever worked with. Silk and most synthetics (velvet is usually synthetic) don't cling as bad from friction.

I too haven't had a problem yet with it.

When you first put it on, it can cling while you are trying to adjust and position the outer robe. But once you get it into place the cling actually helps keep everything in place, I find.
