Run some primer over it and that will help you find any dips and bumps in the resin.

Should I mess with getting the overall shape to matchup and such?

Overall good. Maybe some smoother edges.

The edge around the bottom of the helmet is what jumped out at me. I would shoot for a nice smooth curve from shoulder to shoulder, front and back. Also, if you are going to have a lip aroun the edge, my personal suggestion would be keep it's depth consistent all the way around. Figure out how the helmet best sits on you, and trim the lip to allow it to naturally sit that way.

Visor opening looked quite nice, from the front photos.

From the way the I interpreted the helmet seating, it looks like the guard is supposed to stand with their head slightly tilted forward. Something like the one of this picture where it looks like the head is looking slightly downward and the helmet sits mostly flush with the chest.

or in a much larger picture:

I personally find it awkward with my helmet to stand perfectly straight up or the front of the helmet lifts way off the chest and floats out in the air.

Sounds good, this is how the helmet came to me. I've done a little sanding so far, but wanted to make sure what I was seeing as trouble spots were the same as others were seeing.

In reference to the gloves they are basically the same material one is taken with a camera flash and the other is not.
