Forget what I've said, I'm more than happy with my SG armor but if Stripes says it's not approvable, I'll take the easy way and not recommand this armor anymore.

To be fair, I said the kit was not approvable as it is being sold, as the vendor is claiming. There is significant work that has to go into modifications to fit your body, and additional armour parts to replace pieces that do not meet CRL standards.

You are somewhat correct in your assessment. The ab section is questionable for approval. The shoulders are a definite no go, the rest of the armour will depend on how it fits you. Having it look like the reference photos is only part of the battle. If you are comfortable reworking fibreglass to fit you, knock yourself out. However, if you are like a large number of people and are not, this is likely not the best avenue for you to pursue.

The ab plate looks good to me.
Where did the CRL come up with the shoulders being round? The source pics of the Shadow I see on the back of the action figure, the game model, and the RPG supplement book show that there is angles to it. The gauntlets being perfectly round and smooth also seems contradict the source photos.
Though that ebay one also looks off and way to angled and small.

The shoulder bell actually has new reference material that will be included with the next round of updates. It is not perfectly smooth and round as it is currently pictured. I will let LT elaborate further as he is the one who sourced the new information.

I had a chat about these with the maker, he seems convinced that his bells are approvable, but nevermind I didn't bought it through ebay and was allowed to buy it partially.
To me it's the best looking SG kit I've seen so far.
I stand by my statement that this kit is not worth the price it is listed at and is not 501st approvable as the seller claims.
Agreed 100% chief.

I'm curious to see those new additions, to me angles in shoulders are to mimic the low poly model of the game, if we go that road, for example the stormtrooper commander should have angular bells as well. (and the rest of the armor would be quite different too)
If the games modelers wanted to show an angle, they would have used a texture to emphasize it.
Doesn't seems angular in the comic book either...
My two cents.
