Another thing to consider.... you can't have a seam running down the middle of the front panel... that is just not good.

Yes the seem down the middle is standing out only due to it being a rush job and i did that one inside out.. lol
I haven't been able to find a single pattern that I could use or modify to avoid a seem down the front But i was assured that with the velvet you wont be able to see it anyway. The problem being that the velvet is only 45 in wide instead of 60.
I'll check out his thread and look around a little more before i actually sew up the velvet though.

There are ways to work around having the seam in the middle... it may just require adjusting other parts of the pattern to allow for the front panel to be flat.

So I decided to try and push my deadline I gave myself up to finish my guard up by about two weeks. We are going to be trooping a local hockey game.

So with tax returns burning a hole in my pocket already I decided to get off my bum and get cracking on this project. I ordered the Dark Red velvet a few weeks ago and it looks GREAT. So I placed orders for all the remaining parts I need and set off for the local Lowes and Fabric stores to buy stuff.

Im using the badger guide I found here using a pool stick for the force pike, I’m pretty happy with the way its turned out so far. Not perfect, and not quite done yet, but it looks pretty sharp.

I still need the gold “teeth” that go up near the end.

My boots came in today! they match the outer robe fabric almost perfectly, and would have matched dead on had I gone with the lighter color. Eh I still like them and think they will look great with the finished project.

The next piece for my costume arrived today the optional rope belt. Its a very nice soft cotton rope and the color match is dead on. Also just long enough to wrap around but without hanging down very far.

You'll want to make sure those large knots aren't visible as all references for the rope belt show no such knots

Thanks for the reminder I was just going to put them on the side away from the arm slit but can move them farther to the back.
That does remind me of a question though. The CRL say that you CAN have a blaster/ holster. The question is how would you get it to hang on the belt? I doubt the cloth belt would hold it without looking horrible and scrunched up.... is it just on the rope?

You would hang it in a similar fashion to how the TK's hang theirs... you may need to re-enforce the fabric with something more sturdy inside the belt like canvas or plastic (keep in mind, all TK belts are canvas with the front being covered by plastic)

Wearing a leather belt for stability under the fabric belt will give it some holding power.

If time is a concern I'd put off the holster/blaster project for awhile. Troop without it a few times to get the kinks of the costume out of the way first. Once you've gotten it taken care of, then you can add those extras.
Just my opinion :)
