So would those gloves work for an initial approval while I look for the right color? what is this dye you speak of? did it work?

After htting them with a coat of this: http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-u ... 100-19.asp my gloves were approved. You will also need a bottle of leather sealant to lock in the dye.
