Post by Aesmodan »

Getting the ball rolling with my work in progress...

My kit is in the mail, arriving Friday! :shadow:

CRL:
https://databank.501st.com/databank/Cos ... _tfu_royal

Kit: Walt's
Helm visor: Kalevalavisors.com for mirrored red/smoke
Jumpsuit: Re-tailored RedKap coveralls
Belt: MagmelCreations Etsy Montreal (great quality)
Kama: Will tailor one, leaving this likely to last for paint-fabric colour matching...
Gloves: Wampawear (in the mail)
Boots: Crowprops (needed custom for calves for IOC officers)
Weapon: Printed from STLs in this forum (Lorsaberus lightsabre)

Thanks for help and advice to @ugcsspawn @tk9589 @shikkakku

While I was waiting, I got working on the sabre pike... :saberpike:

To accommodate the raised activation button on the lightsabre, I thought it best to cut out a slot with chisels, rather than print the "emitter" piece too large. This also prevents the sabre from passing all the way through the emitter accidentally during trooping:

Discussed this with my GML:

The STLs include a nicer upper handgrip #2, but the CRL sabre pike appears to have 2 x #1 handgrips (different set of STLs). I preferred to go with one of each from this style of grips, so cleared this early.

The emitter fit to the sabre. I cracked it a bit landmarking the hole, but this is easily fixable.

I then secured a 1" diameter hardwood dowel (larger looked wrong to me).

The Loresaberus lightsabre comes with a screw-on adapter for the end (to connect two of them together in Darth Maul fashion), and this proved useful as the adapter could then be drill-tapped-screwed into the dowel, and then the lightsabre can be screwed into the adapter. Since the blade of the lightsabre is also screwed in, this created a readily collapsible sabre pike for transport.

Still considered making this even further collapsible by bisecting the stave and then enabling them to be screwed together within one of the handgrips... but we'll leave that to later.

With some paint, we're done!

Also put a PVC cap on the end to finish the look.

Posting that I had a discussion with Keep Trooping about their (outer) Shadow Guard Robes.

I asked and it was mentioned that these could also be done in red, if the pattern is identical (I think it is, AOTC?)

Also spoke to LeggendeSegreteCloth on Etsy (Italy), and those are comparable in price but are tailored.

Do we have a preferred source of Royal Guard (red) outer robes/AOTC robes?
