Helmet Image
  • The front of the helmet has a T-visor with the nosepiece coming down the middle of the visor all the way down to the bottom of the helmet with a slight taper. The outside of the T-visor has a “step”. The visor is black and obscures the face completely.
  • This nosepiece extends over the crown of the helmet and ends around halfway down the rear of the helmet. Image

  • There is a circular indent around the front of the helmet around the T-visor, starting from the top of the gorget with the highest point at around the forehead.
  • There is a sloped gorget at the bottom of the helmet that extends around the bottom perimeter of the helmet. There is a detail line around the bottom perimeter of this gorget that is present all around the gorget, and a depression at the top of the gorget which goes around the back of the helmet.
  • There are two earpieces on both sides of the helmet, square at the bottom and semi-circular on top. The bottom of the earpiece also slightly follows the curve of the gorget depression such than when viewed from the front it follows the sweeping upward angle of the depression

Hey everyone, I wanted to share 2 newly available helmet files from some pretty well-known-for-accuracy file makers in the Mando verse.

Chamanleonfx has a cgtrader and Patreon for his
Image

Great Ape also has files on Etsy

I'd appreciate hearing thoughts from staff on these.

Honestly from first glance they seem fine, though the top one seems to narrow down too much at the front? Hard to say without an actual printed helmet.

The usual risks hace to be said though, considering the standard has not yet been established anything designed at this early stage carries a lot of caveat emptor. And final assessment has to be done with how it looks with the entire costume on.

For the first one I think the sculpt is tipped to show more or the dome, here's a more head on shot.

A note that may need to be added, it looks like the black of the visor ends at the bottom of the nose, which is slightly shorter than the sides of the visor

Good point, thanks! Amended the visor clause and added some other clarifications:

"The front of the helmet has a T-visor with the nosepiece coming down the middle of the visor with a slight taper. The nosepiece ends right before the bottom of the helmet at the same level as the detail line on the gorget. The outside of the T-visor (excepting the nosepiece) has a “step”. The visor is black and obscures the face completely, and ends at the bottom of the nosepiece."

After consulting with Detachment staff, feedback I've gotten is to re-word some of the specs to avoid jargon and to make it simpler. Also forgot to add the "mohawk" that originates from the nosepiece. So I'll try this:
Helmet
  • The front of the helmet has a T-visor with the nosepiece coming down the middle of the visor with a slight taper. The nosepiece extends past the forehead, continues over the head and ends at the back of the head.
  • The nosepiece ends right before the bottom of the helmet at the same level as the detail line.
  • The outside of the T-visor (excepting the nosepiece) has a “step”. The visor is black and obscures the face completely, and ends at the bottom of the nosepiece.
  • There is a circular indent around the front of the helmet around the T-visor, starting from the top of the sloped sectiopn with the highest point at around the forehead.
  • There is a sloped section at the bottom of the helmet that extends around the bottom perimeter of the helmet. There is a detail line around the bottom perimeter that is present all around section. There is a wide groove where the sloped section meets the rest of the helmet which goes around the back of the helmet.
  • There are two earpieces on both sides of the helmet, square at the bottom and semi-circular on top. The bottom of the earpiece also slightly follows the curve of the wide groove such than when viewed from the front it follows the sweeping upward angle of the groove.
