I have s pair of boots similar to this but the zipper is in the back. If I covered the zipper with leather tape would they meet CRL standards?

You shouldn't have any problems with the zipper on the boot. The over all look of the boot so what we are looking for on the costume. Plus with the strapping and Shin guards on there.

Jackboots are too short for this style boot, Riding boots are the style you will need to go for. Per the game model there are no side straps on the boot.
