Hey, I'm an aspiring Royal Guard, but I have a couple questions about the stuff needed, I already have a helmet on order so this will be just about weapons and fabric. My first question is if this fabric is good for the cape with the darker colour option below good enough for the thrawb etc. Link to the fabric : https://www.myfabrics.co.uk/05-110077-3 ... vet-1.html
Secondly, is there any good resources in the UK for the boots or will boot covers, that I could make, be acceptable?
And lastly, is it easier and cheaper to just make the force pike than get it imported from the US?
Many thanks!!
Stitch. (I had to use at least one of these awesome emotes!)

From my experience stretch velvet is not a good option. It's just too "shiny".Stitchpunker wrote:Hey, I'm an aspiring Royal Guard, but I have a couple questions about the stuff needed, I already have a helmet on order so this will be just about weapons and fabric. I would recommend triple velvet, or velveteen !
There are some really good WIPs that give you leads to boots. Imperial Boots is an option, as well as ebay.Secondly, is there any good resources in the UK for the boots or will boot covers, that I could make, be acceptable?
I made mine with a ski pole, others have used pool cues, and cabbagefarmer sells an awesome looking one !And lastly, is it easier and cheaper to just make the force pike than get it imported from the US?

Stretch velvet is absolutely NOT approvable. As per the CRL Velvet or Velveteen only.Stitchpunker wrote:Hey, I'm an aspiring Royal Guard, but I have a couple questions about the stuff needed, I already have a helmet on order so this will be just about weapons and fabric. You'll have to do some searching to see what is available for shipping to the UK. Imperial boots is one option, though the sole needs to be made black instead of tan.
The pike has many options available and there are a number of build threads here on the forum.

Ahh, many thanks for all the feed back! I probably go with the pool cue idea as I can find those cheaper and easier, and I will definitely check out imperial boots!
As for the fabric, would something like this be good in that colour?

Many thanks again!!

That fabric is a crushed velveteen and would not be approvable. You are looking for a triple velvet or full velveteen. They generally run approx $30 a yard.Stitchpunker wrote:Ahh, many thanks for all the feed back!
