The sheen is a lot less noticable over a larger surface area. It doesn't shine or shimmer, but it also isn't flat and lifeless. Mainly, it just makes the folds a little more easily visible.
Here's my last test-fitting photo. The only one I have so far that shows me full-length under good light.

What kind of material do you use in the lining of the robe? It would seem a bit much to do velvet on top of velvet on top of velvet.

Would no wale corduroy be an acceptable to replace the velvet or velveteen? Visually and fiber wise there is essentially NO DIFFERENCE! Also it is much more breathable..anyway for people to avoid melting into a puddle of Royal Goo.
