How does this outer robe pattern look
https://imgur.com/MI0XYSK
I put this together from 2 patterns that I combined and modified. I know it's not the right material or length but I want the pattern right before I make one in velvet. Please give me feedback on how to improve the design.
Thanks

is there a way for you to lay out your pattern so to speak.

Re: How does this outer robe pattern look
The front panel is similar to the front of the under robe minus the sleeve cut outs. The back 2 panels are sort of pie shaped. The center line is straight and the outer line gets wider as it goes down toward the base. Think of a princess's robe with a straight panel sewed into the front. I will add pictures when I get home from work. Some of the material in the shoulder could be removed but the pattern is designed to follow the curve of the shoulder. It might look different when done in velvet as this is light weight muslin

Re: How does this outer robe pattern look
For my inner / outer robes I purchased the following patterns online:
The pattern used for the inner robe (McCall's #2060)
For the outer robe pattern - McCall's Women's Evening Gown / Cape Pattern (McCalls Cape Pattern #2810) This pattern can be found for $15 and up. This pattern needs some slight mods to it to make it fit your height / build but it's a great pattern to base the Outer Robe off of.
Keep up the work mocking up the robes with cheap fabric. You'll want to get it correct before cutting that $$$ velvet.
Here's a picture from when we were laying out the fabric patterns on the velvet. You can see some length was added to my patterns with tissue paper because I am 6'-2" and the pattern wasn't made for my height.

Re: How does this outer robe pattern look
For my inner robe I used the pattern from the Easter costume. It's done except the hem. Just received my boots.
I will hit Joanns fabrics tonight and compare your pattern to what I have. Is the outer robe suppose to bell out at the bottom or is it suppose to be more straight? And would a seam found the back be an issue?
Thanks
Larry C

McCall's 2810 is out of print so you will not find it at the fabric store. You can google it for images of the pattern front and back.

Re: How does this outer robe pattern look
I found McCall's #2810 on eBay (unused) when I purchased mine. You can still find it there reasonably priced.

As I stated though, the pattern is used more as a base. It's not 100% the way it is out of the package. I had many mods done to it

I would only keep the seams on the sides (not down the center of the back)Keltic Assassin wrote:For my inner robe I used the pattern from the Easter costume. It's done except the hem. Just received my boots.
