Custom or fenix

Post by sl9911 »

Ok I am thinking of updating my robes. Inner and outer. My outer I had made to work two ways and is not up to newer Crl standards. So I was thinking of new one, even though the one lady ghost made is awesome. Who has which ones and how are they. Vendor list says fenix needs custom mods to them. I have bought from them before and my vader outrage robe was ot to right specs and lighter than what I wanted. And that was fenix props I bought from. Pros and cons on both.

Att the moment you can go ahead with fenix but it looks too flat for most members. Currently i dont know if ladyghost is still making outer robes but i think they are better looking.
So if you have any possibility to have someone who can sew and make a good looking design of the RotJ Outer Robe please make it on your own.

FP always run long. You have to raise them up at the bottom as they drag on the ground. Also the fabric used and the backing on it.... Let's just say I have a set and I'm not that big a fan of how flat they are, the way they're made, the shape etc...

I recommend going to a seamstress and discussing how you want the robes to look, or doing it yourself if you have the skills (I don't sadly :( ).

They do the job, they work, and 99% of people won't notice they're too flat. The 1% are those of us on the forums in the costumes :) I have them. I didn't have a problem with them running long but I'd always want them to run long as opposed to too short. Always easy to hem them up then try and make them longer.
Don't quote me on this but I believe CP and FP are basically the same, or at least work, or have worked together in the past. Their stuff looks very similar.

That is what I thought. They worked together. I have bought stuff before. My vader said rotj but was not the 3/4 circle and very light weight. The one I have now has a nice flow but not accurate to standards. I read the hope of changes to the Crl. I could see both the flat and wavy. Sometimes I think we take things to far for these costumes. Just like vader you can't see shots of different things. And like people say. We base our standards on minutes of seeing a costume. I wish the wife or myself could see better. Wouldn't want to waste meters of velvet.

To those that have either. How is the weight and quality of velvet.

Personally, I prefer CP. I find the quality of the robes craftsmanship to be a lot better. I don't know if this the case for all FP ROTJ robes, but they have an awkward seam on both sides of the robe that looks like the creator just took two halves of fabric and stitched them together. It looks slightly awkward to me. A local garrison member told me of his experience communicating with FP and based on that, my experience with CP looked all the better. In short, go with what you feel would be the best bang for your buck :)
