Make sure you have the grain of the fabric laying the same way for all of your panels before sewing

Lining for Outer robes is just about done. One question: Does the opening for the slit sit a the right spot? does it need to go up or down any more than it its? (picture was taken in a Mirror so that is why slit looks to be on the left shoulder)

Just making sure that the opening is on the right. I know the photo was taken in a mirror but better to double check so you don't make a big mistake there. As far as the position of it... it should be even with the bottom of your armpit so it could go a bit higher up from the look of the photo.

Progress report and pics: I've sewn the basic shape of outer robes and lining. I still need to cut to length, sew lining and outer shell together, hem where appropriate and form some sort of collar. I raised the slit from the previous picture up an inch to the bottom of my arm pit. Here are a couple pics of me wearing the lining and outer shell. Let me know what you think.

also, helmet is sanded and primed. needs final sanding with 400 to 600 grit sandpaper then I'll take it to the shop for paint.

It's difficult to see the details with the lighting that you have, but with what I see, it is looking good so far.

The best lighting is natural daylight, barring that, a brightly lit room with a neutral background will help us to see if there are any detail issues that come up during your build.

Update:

Done:
Gloves were finished yesterday by a local costume shop.
Helmet has been painted, wife picked it up this morning and it should be waiting for me when I get home.
Inner robes are done.
Sash is done.
I have Jack boots and Red boots.

In Progress:
Force pike 45% complete.
Outer robes and lining 70% complete - Have to rework them a bit as the sides seem a bit short. Shape and Draping are awesome!!

I'll post pics once I have them.

Thanks,
Madighon

As promised, here are some pictures of my Painted bucket and Force Pike.

Robes are not done, but I wanted to get the helmet on with the robes in the sun. Opinions?

I used Bdgr's tutorial as a basis for my Force Pike build.

Just on an initial glance, the helmet looks like it is much darker in colour than the robes. The helmet should be matching the robes in colour as per the CRLs.

I agree with stripes.

I went through the same thing with my bucket. It was color matched under LED/Fluro light, but when in the sun it looked totally different as the velvet changed color dramatically when in sunlight.

My best advice is to find a compromise between the color matching under different light sources and try to get it as close as possible in each. With this in mind, it will never match exactly, but it will be very close in each circumstance.

I've finally tried on everything. Had it done since Saturday. Will still need to get the helmet repainted a lighter shade to match better. (Picture taken by an 8 year old)
