The gloves are made of stretch velvet. This is not approvable for the 501st. Stretch velvet is a shiny material. I would recommend looking for suede/cloth gloves that match the colour of your inner robe.

From what I can see in the images for the boots, the first one is a maybe but is hard to say 100% for sure on as the images don't provide great detail. The second boot is not acceptable as it is not a plain black, it is textured.

Are these any better?

I can't believe how hard it is to find plain black boots! At least ones that aren't under $100 :?

Those may work... it's always a guessing game to a point with online shopping as the ultimate deciding factor is how it works when you are wearing it.

As for the cost... no one ever said it was a cheap hobby ;)

Ok, so I had a suggestion to get some gaberdine material for the inner robes, and since I can't find any, I looked at my Jo Anns store, and they have a Corduroy fabric (100% cotton) OR a Velour (100% polyester) that would both match my outer robes lining very well. Does anyone have experience with them and know if either of them would be good?

And yes, I know it's not going to be cheap :) I'm just thinking if I can find a pair under a hundred, I'll go with black. Otherwise I'd just get the red ones that are a little over a hundred I think. :)

Courduroy and velour are not acceptable fabrics.

Is this robe better? I added the side panels to make it more full. Yes, I will have the bottom the proper length for the real one :)

I was also going to widen the front panel a bit, starting at the shoulder and angling out more as it goes down, so it's wider at the bottom to cover the side opening better, unless you think it will be fine as is. Let me know! Thanks :D

Much better!!! I don't know that making the front panel wider would really gain you anything with how you have it set up now.

So just leave it then? I just don't want to start working on the velvet and then find out that it's not approvable...

So I would like to get approved by this saturday to go to a troop as a member. I am wondering if you think these gloves would be acceptable for now and would pass inspection, but I will be trying as hard as I can to get a pair that matches my inner robes done before the troop.
