So I have the helmet and some velvet samples, just wanted to double check on the helmet/fabric color and get some opinions on what color for the lining. Thanks!

Out of what you have I'd be going for the burgundy on the left.

I agree. The Burgundy looks the best.

Yeah, that's the one I was kind of leaning towards. And the inner robes don't have to be velvet, just a thick enough fabric to not see through?

The ideal colour is somewhere between the burgundy on the left and the purple on the bottom. With how hard it can be to find this colour, the Burgundy on the left would be the colour of choice from the posted options.

As to how much fabric, it will not only depend on how tall you are, but the rest of your build as well. As an example, I am 6'2" tall, but I have a 52" chest and shoulders to match. My outer cloak is 10 meters for each of the lining and outer shell totaling 20 meters of fabric. The inner robe and belt add additional fabric to the total.

As for the type of fabric for the inner robe/belt, it should be the same fabric as the lining of the cloak for both weight and colour. A suggestion would be Gaberdine, or something similar in weight.

So, ignoring the shoulders and how it's draped right now, as I will be working on that later, I just want to know if the fullness of the robe is satisfactory. Right now it's just one piece of fabric with a hole cut in the middle draped over and pinned together.
Does it look like I should be putting in another piece of fabric on each side where the arms are, or does it look fine? I don't want to have too much fabric there, but I don't want it to be too little...

You will want the side pieces for the arm "sleeves to provide a fuller look to the cloak.

You will want to add the arm "sleeve" pieces to the outer cloak. Not only will it add volume, but it will give you a much cleaner line for the shoulders rather than working out how to sew them together so that they don't pucker

Ok, sounds good. I hadn't figured out how to do that before, but I think I have an idea now... I'll be back for more opinions when I get it worked out Thanks for your input!

think of it as a "sleeve" for attaching it. The only real difference is it is the same length as the rest of the cloak. It will be somewhat bell shaped as the base of the cloak will require more material than the top (shoulder) so that it maintains a consistent look when it is all sewn together.
