The black elastic can be replaced with either red elastic or can be covered with red suede and hidden I would think easily enough. If the black could be mitigated, is there any other reason this boot would not be acceptable? It is really the only option I can find affordable vs. having a custom boot made.stripes wrote:These will not be approvable. If you are going for a red boot, the entire boot must be red. Here is a picture of what I already have and what I was looking at as an initial submission for approvalstripes wrote:Without seeing the boot, we cannot say yes or no.Bouri-Plwel wrote:For level one acceptance it says you can use black leather jack boots......I have red leather boots already....just not made out of suede....could those also be use for level one acceptance until I can get suede ones made?

Re: Boots and Shoes
Without seeing what they look like I cannot render a decision one way or the other. As has been pointed out, red boots are not mandatory for costume approval... there is the option for a plain black boot (German Jack boot, or other similar style) that is approvable.Bouri-Plwel wrote:The black elastic can be replaced with either red elastic or can be covered with red suede and hidden I would think easily enough. Re: Boots and Shoes
For $145 for those red boots that would need work on the black part you could order a pair from a custom maker you can find on these boards for just about the same amount (I believe).

Then can you help point me in the direction of some custom makers? I have been looking and could not see any....at least still producing product. I know I can be approved with black jack boots, but I would rather just invest now to get the red one done and out of the way while I have the extra funds to do it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Re: Boots and Shoes
For a custom boot, your best bet is to talk to local shops in your area and see who could possibly make them for you. I have looked locally myself and found the cost to be $350+ for a single pair... hence my decision to stay with the black boots myself.Bouri-Plwel wrote:JesterTDA wrote:For $145 for those red boots that would need work on the black part you could order a pair from a custom maker you can find on these boards for just about the same amount (I believe).

Hey mate,
custom boots I found personally to be really expensive. Once search using the parameters I mentioned above revealed the following:
http://www.etsy.com/au/listing/17027245 ... intage_mid
Now they are a size 8, and may not be 100% perfect for approval (I could let others comment on that), however it the were multiple other websites showing product as well, not just etsy or ebay, with sizing up to ladies 12's and 13's (any higher gets really hard to find).
Sure you'll find a lot of expensive stuff you wouldn't want to buy along the way, and for the 2 pairs I have it took a couple of months of searching whilst other parts were happening on my costume, but I was eventually able to find some through a show company online. Sadly I don't remember the company, and they were old stock on clearance they were getting rid of so I doubt they have them anyway.
Anyway, like I said, there are lots out there, just finding that size and correct style takes a bit of time (unless you have large feet then, sadly, good luck

Re: Boots and Shoes
Thank you for the assistance....I have a 12 1/2 foot wide. So I don't think I will have much luck finding ladies boots that will fit me. I will have to modify an existing men's boot or find someone to custom make them for me.

Yup. Looks that way.Bouri-Plwel wrote:Thank you for the assistance....I have a 12 1/2 foot wide. So I don't think I will have much luck finding ladies boots that will fit me. I will have to modify an existing men's boot or find someone to custom make them for me.
