[Need help] Vent system

Post by Arnianor »

Hey lads,
I made a couple of troops now in my new Royal Guard Costume, and there is one thing I wish to change to the costume:
get a ventilation system in the helmet.
So I'd like to get your ideas about how to do this, as once there's my head in, I have almost no place left on the top, and I can't put it on the side otherwise I can't put it on.

Thanks!

With space constraints like that I'm going to guess you're using a Don Post helmet. The easiest way to make things a bit more comfortable is a South American fiberglass helmet or a Rubies. Some people use small personal AC units they've found online and pump up the cool air through a tube up their backs into the helmet. While others use squirrel fans (I have 3 in my helmet myself). The biggest help I've gotten is adding an inch of foam to the top of my helmet which compresses and leaves just the tiniest of opening around my shoulders depending upon how I move my neck. This can create a lot of air flow and keep things comfortable.

Thanks for the advice ;) Already have my visor back a like a couple of mm.
But not, it's not a Don Post as it'd be way to small (I tried it once, couldn't get it past my fronthead).
I think the best will be the AC :D

I use the mini A/C method. I've only trooped once so far with it, but it worked admirably well. I have the unit situated at the small of my back underneath my inner robe, with three tubes running up my spine and tucking up under the lip of the lid.

So what are these personal A/C units you are talking about? Can you give me more information about them?

I use the ac method and it makes a HUGE difference. The unit itself is called a Handy Cooler. You can get them on amazon.
Using some plastic tubing and tape You can run the tube from the fan (on mybelt) to a headband.
Its not cold, but it is significantly cooler and less stuffy. Also you wont fog over your visor anymore.

One of our members got a good shot of his on facebook...

Unlike Jeff's set up I am only running 1 currently And just tie it on with my rope belt instead of a separate harness.

Hope this helps.
