I think you have to look at it from a Costuming aspect. Your helmet is going to go through alot of more abuse than the set helmets as far environments to be around. As long as it has that look of the Horse hair you should be good to go. I don't expect the average individual to know the difference.

Getting better and better.

So jealous that you have got this far.

BTW:- why not make a template of how the crest should look after trimming and use that as a guide??

That's what I was thinking of doing Iain, I still have a spare crest to use for the shape...those plastic broom ends are very hard to cut through though! Working on the last part of the crest itself today then will tackle the shaping. Will post pics again when I finish each stage....
As soon as my fiance is home from the hospital I can get some full costume pics too!

Allrighty! All of the crest has now been inserted and glued in. Next steps are buying some cardboard to cut my templates out of, I think I will do four alltogether and secure them to either side of both crests then after cutting the excess down, leave them to keep the crest from becoming frayed. Also, I want to add some padding along the shoulders for comfort and paint the inside a flat black. Honestly, that should do it!

Blue gloves matching the cloak and the proper blaster for an ep. 1 senate guard would be 2 things that jump out at me...
