Praetorian Guard Shirt / Neck area garment

Post by Lee_C_77 »

I know the CRL is still under construction but I’d be grateful for some assistance or pointers on the shirt.

Looking at Dawns early draft of a CRL the material looks quite heavily patterned and a wool/fleece type, with a single stitch line vertically on the front.
On the Last Jedi Book cover, the fabric looks to be smoother with a double stitch line on the front, possibly to hide a zip or Velcro?
On other pictures taken at the premiere, the material looks different, almost like a textured wet suit material. Again, these seemed to have only one stitch line at the front.

I guess my questions are

1) Are the photos all from LFL costumes?
2) would the fastener be Velcro or a zip?
3) should the fabric be based on a particular picture or any of them?
4) Is the neck seal and shirt 2 separate pieces?

I guess any discussion is speculation until the CRL is done. I just thought it better to be over here than getting lost on the Facebook group.

2) The fasteners could technically be either - Just as long as no visible zipper is shown. Snaps are another option.
3) I would stress using the First photo more than the others.
4) Think like a turtle Neck design for that

Thanks for that.

So, if we’re using the 1st pic as a reference, to me it doesn’t look like a pebbled or faux leather effect material at all.
If you look on the top most collar part on the right, it looks a lighter colour than the left. Same as the lighter spots below it. You’ll notice that these lighter colours are not visible on the left side.
To me, the whole shirt looks to be one colour, with the light causing the right side to have different coloured spots. Almost a slight wool material, probably waxed?

I think this part of the outfit is causing me the most problems.
The pants, boots and hard parts are all sorted, and there are enough hi res photos of the skirts.
I have a friend who got some inside info about his Kylo TLJ fabrics so I’ve asked if there’s any way he can help me out.
Fingers crossed.

All the photos I'm going from are based on that first style.

However most of the other pics i've seen, show more consistently that the shirt is made of a shiny pebbled material.

You’re right. So far this is the only picture that I’ve seen that shows this particular fabric.
Anyone know where it originated from? Is is really screen used?

Howdy.

I don't know why some things show a double line down the front. It's not on any real costume I had seen used by lfl I've personally seen. It could be a stunt suit?

My images I posted are directly from lfl and Disney.

Yes I've seen others.

-The shirt is cracked resin cloth. Basically the same as the pants but the pants base ia more poly.

-The shirt buckles up the back. Zippered.

-The balclava is attached to the shirt but it's inset. It's like a balloon that pops out the top. It's a balaclava. It's made from simillar fabric to the shirt.

-there is nothing else on the shirt other than the collar with the center seam with the trim and the balaclava.

Hope this helps

This is an original screen used costume. Yes I am 100% sure.

The shiny cracked resin is all over the images. I see it in this one it's just not as clear as the rest of the images. But it's very much there. :)
