Working on Blueprints

Post by nzjedi »

Hi all, I've started working on a model of the ceremonial rifle, so I can work up some nice high resolution images for anyone interested to use as blueprints, at the moment, I've got very little to work from though, I was wondering if anyone here might own the Kotobukiya, gentle giant or any other "decent" statue, could they photograph the gun for me? I can't start modelling the rifle body, without knowing where there needs to be geometry to support details, Also, for the top, I only have the Hasbro toy to work from.... I want to keep guess work to a minimum, so the blueprints turn out as accurate as possible. Any help would be great peoples :)

Due to the overwhelming interest in this, I thought I'd post a quick update, had a few hours spare this morning so did a bit more work on the model, nearly done, just a few details to add, and some general tidying.

Not sure if it's any help, but here are photos of the Hasbro 12" scale rifle.

On this version, the top has no detail, other than the raised cylindrical shapes.

The bottom has 6 "phillips screws" on the underside of the grip where the strap attaches.

Only difference between left and right sides is one has 2 buttons (2 short recesses), the other has one button (long recess).

Also, there are two prongs or bumps on the barrel tip.

Take what you will from it. :)

nearly there, just need to add the two buttons and the slide thing in the sides, and the three screw things on either side of the little detail box bit.
Thanks again for the pictures!

I wouldn't mind having one of these..... just to have. If someone were to start producing them, that would be pretty cool.

Well, when the blueprints are done, it shouldn't be too much of a task to make one yourself with some PVC tube, MDF and styrene details on a scroll saw. I think the design of the barrel could make producing a screen accurate kit a bit of trick.

Looks amazing and you're putting a lot of work into it.

I'm going down the easy and lazy route of an Ep.III Senate Guard and will just use the pike I already have!

But your work is commendable!

I'm very interested to realize this blaster rifle but it's very difficult to find the real dimensions.

I will take my 1/6 version ...
