Kir Kanos - Advice on boots

The more that I look at them, the more I wonder what magic material they are using that has no seam when manufactured.

"Boots: Boots must be red in color and come to a point at the opening at the top of the wearer’s thigh. Boots must reach a length higher than the wearer’s knees but must be lower than the wearer’s groin. They should have a relatively conservative heel, no visible straps/buckles, or ornamental stitching."

My gut reaction, having tried to make a pair of these and discovering one way to not make a SovProtBootie, is to make it an armored version that will be form fitting to my lower leg with a rigid rising section that will go up and over the top of the knee. Good to troop in, easy enough to make, and meets the requirements above. Another thought, which keeps me away from fiberglass fumes, is to do some cutting on a pair of fishing waders.

Any other advice you can give would be welcome and well received.

For the Empire,

Sirus

A seam of stitching wouldn't be considered ornamental ;)

As for armoured... that wouldn't follow any of the documented reference photos for this character unfortunately and wouldn't be something that could be used for approval.

I'll let Lucious elaborate further on suggestions as he has more working knowledge on the boots for CE costumes.

Something Like this might work. I'll have to check some out in person.

Would it be possible to even keep the safety clips on there at the top to keep the boots up? Or would that just be a hassle? Better to just cut them off and reinforce the front for where it will come up over the knee?

I have a pair of those waiting to be modified. They came in the mail today. Now the real question. The fabric upper that is above the heavy rubber of the actual boot is very flimsy. If I use flexseal or some other rubber sealer to give it some reinforcement and keep it's shape, will that be approvable?

I theory you could do this. I've been trying to reference Knee high boots to get a better feel of this.

Applied the flexseal to the flimsy material. Basically, it turned to leather. It's fan-freaking-tastic. It also takes up the paint really well. Pictures to come soon. :tr2:
