Stitching the sleeves and hem outer robe

Post by firebatt »

I’m making my ROTS guard and need to know what type of stitching for the outer robes. I’m not sure the technical term but is it hidden or top stitching for the robe “sleeves/flaps” and the lower hem?

Thanks in advance

Hi. Getting the outer robe right is the hardest part of the costume so it has to be done very carefully. On all robes I’ve seen including my own there are no visible signs of stitching or hemlines. So therefore hems and stitching must be as invisible as possible. My hem has a wavy stitch all along the bottom on the inside. I hope that makes sense as I’m no seamstress. I would certainly use a seamstress as most guards I know end up using a seamstress as they know how to do this properly.
