I brought the thread up to the team who gave this advice. The crl says matte or gloss. A satin should be fine as well. It is more durable than a matte finish. The clear coat would bring it up to a mild gloss. Also you need to rotate the bracers so that the long side is to the outside of the forearms...

Yes 12 volt computer fans. Small and effective. The noise is significant but guards should remain silent. Though I often say hi.

Fans are tricky but correct placement is essential. Mine has a fan right below where my chin sits and that's cooling me off at troops.
