Re: Received IB robes today
Not sure on the helmet, as I don't have that one (I have the Rubie's), but as for the boots, I'd probably go a size up. That wasn't mentioned on the site when I ordered my set and while I ordered my normal size and the boots fit okay (a *little* cramped, but overall fine), I did add some gel inserts...

Re: Irishknots WIP thread
Maybe. I talked to my wife (who hemmed mine) and she said she just did a regular hem (and made sure the color or the thread matched well) and that there is possibly too much tension when yours was sewed. She suggested a walking foot to help with that.

Re: Irishknots WIP thread
It's more that the stitching is visible. You shouldn't be able to see the actual stitching of the hem.

Re: Irishknots WIP thread
Yeah, just under the main robes, but on top of the inner robes. I tried to put mine under the inner robes, but a) it didn't look right and b) didn't add anything to the overall costume and c) was cumbersome. If done right, you won't see it at all anyway. My "action" pic I took for my appro...

Re: Irishknots WIP thread
For the helmet, if it's the same as mine, which I believe it is, it's fiberglass, which will not change shape easily. I did what a few others have done here and built a neck pad that sits under the main robes that fills the space. You can also go the different helmet route, I do believe there are a ...

Re: Is Imperial Boots "Guardian Robes" 501st approved?
Not sure when you got your robes, but when I got mine (around September/October of last year), they were probably 4-6 inches too long! Definitely no problems getting mine hemmed... My size was a large (I am 6', 195 lbs) and the inner robe fit perfectly (other than needing to be hemmed) and the boot...

Re: Is Imperial Boots "Guardian Robes" 501st approved?
As you have alluded to, IB has a good reputation in the 501st community and do receive a good bit of praise. Personally, I found Vincent to offer a quality product at a decent price, but his customer service can be lacking at times. I am not sure if they updated the description, but the IB robes do...

Re: Received IB robes today
Yeah, the shoulders were a bit wide on mine too (drooped down), so I had them sewn up higher where they are suppose to be and they definitely look better! It's good to hear they are adjusting that part of the design... I’m not exactly sure if that’s what he was referring to as part of the new s...
