Re: Breastplate

I think there are ways to get away from the codpiece armour. IMO i think wearing that actually causes people to notice what they wouldn't really notice. Some input would be appreciated in that regard! I'm thinking of wearing a thicker bodysuit (kinda like a wetsuit for scuba diving) or maybe some s...

Re: Breastplate

I think adding another Lobster piece to the chest would help lower it on your torso. IMO i think your belt sits too high on your hips. I also realize this is still work in progress. Re: Breastplate

From a CRL Stand point I would like to have pictures of this costume with robes on and then robes off front and back side. This will further help secure the standing on the costume standards for this costume. Roger that! I think I will be able to take proper submission pics until after the conventi...

Re: Breastplate

I like this. Its a great way to distribute the weight of the costume with it all being one sided on the weight. Backpate? I do have a backplate, but I haven't decided whether I'll attach it or not, based on how it will look with the cape on, and how hot/uncomfortable it may be... and, of course, ho...

Re: Breastplate

All right, now putting it all together...

The armour was assembled by way of a harness system, with the pieces glued on with industrial-strength Krazy Glue and epoxy... still a work in progress, but what do you think?

Re: Glaive technology can work (in universe)

Mmm... not a bad concept. :wow:

Sounds kinda like those telescopic batons used by police and security guards (actually, you can see Ray Park wielding a pair in "Fanboys"), but the shape would be flat instead of round...

In street markets (or some supermarkets) you can find a lot of generic or "knock-off" toys that can work for prop building. For example, I made a DT-12 "Greedo" blaster out of a cheap squirt gun:

Re: Just a thought on the Glaive...

What did you make the endcap fins out of? OK, that's a funny thing... I made them out of small plastic "tubs" used for birds (sorry for the crude description, but I have no idea what they're called in English). I found them at a street market (many people here in Mexico keep canaries as p...

Re: Just a thought on the Glaive...

OK, after much thought I decided to try a traditional approach and went for PVC, a soft foam mat to wrap the hilt and a couple of generic "space swords" for the blades.

I think the final product came out pretty decent. See for yourselves and tell me what you think:
