Re: Sourcing Red Suede Boots
Those would be great, if they came in a size larger than a womens' 9...? That's something like a 7.5 in mens, right? Who has feet that small? As for AliExpress - good luck. I tried ordering a pair of boots through there, and ended up with some frilly white socks instead, some ridiculous excuse for a...

Re: Question about Boots
Cupcake, I would like to pass on to you the same advice that I was given a few months ago when the CRL changed in regard to the boots: Ask your Garrison GML whether or not they will allow the black boots. Even with the detachment leader stating that it is acceptable, it will be your Garrison that ap...

Re: ROTJ Royal Guard Project- How to affix the sash?
I was cautioned against mixing Velcro with velvet. The "hook" side of it can wreak havoc on the nap of the velvet.
If you wanted something like that, an option might be to use snaps like these:

Re: New ROTJ Build
Maybe just lighting in the pic, but that MC lens looks a bit like a mirror. ROTJ visor is not supposed to be mirrored, according to the latest CRL. I believe the old one allowed it, but the new one specifically says no mirrored visor. It's unfortunate, because it seems like mirror tinting was the go...

Re: Canadian ROTJ
The pictures in the CRL, and screenshots from the movies, are about as good as you can get for visual references. Along with the written descriptions, should be enough. After all, these are what your approval will be based off of. FWIW, I have to go three counties away to find a seamstress...

Re: Canadian ROTJ
There's a couple of options that people use. Leave a small gap (size of a small washer) between the visor and the helmet. This will facilitate air exchange. Not a lot, but it's the best you get in a helmet that is otherwise completely sealed. In addition to the above, fans. Most either put fans ins...

Re: Canadian ROTJ
The basic robe, known by so many names, is a timeless classic that has lasted for at least two millennia all around the eastern Mediterranean and across most of Asia. The modern dishdasha that I purchased in Baghdad, Iraq is almost the same as my early Byzantine and late Roman tunics that are recons...

Re: Canadian ROTJ
I started with a pattern similar to this: http://www.fleecefun.com/long-hooded-cloak-pattern-free.html It's a medieval cloak pattern that is actually fitted over and around the shoulders, as opposed to the more typical half circle or rectangle styles. The pattern needs to be modified, of course, sta...

Re: Rubies Helmet, approvable for ROTS?
My guess would be only attaching it around the outer edges, so that glue, tape, etc. used for attaching it is hidden behind the helmet itself.

Re: costumes guidelines, how strict are they?
Is it also possible that you're looking at older member photos that were approved before costume standard changes? The CRL does change from time to time. In fact at least two of the RG were updated early this year. So, a costume approved just 4 months ago may not be approved today. I can also imagin...
