Re: Episode I helmet WIP

WEll, per the CRL I can have either a senate rifle OR a forcepike. The senate rifle I acquired in kit form ws ridculously wonky and pathetic not to mention weighed a ton so I scrapped it and went with option 2. As for the gloves, well they have been the hardest thing to find surprisingly enough........

Re: Episode I helmet WIP

Allrighty! All of the crest has now been inserted and glued in. Next steps are buying some cardboard to cut my templates out of, I think I will do four alltogether and secure them to either side of both crests then after cutting the excess down, leave them to keep the crest from becoming frayed. Als...

Re: Episode I helmet WIP

That's what I was thinking of doing Iain, I still have a spare crest to use for the shape...those plastic broom ends are very hard to cut through though! Working on the last part of the crest itself today then will tackle the shaping. Will post pics again when I finish each stage.... As soon as my f...

Re: Episode I helmet WIP

Next round of crest added, only a little bit left to do and then the really hard part...cutting it down properly to size. I haven't figured out a plan for that yet. Still wish I could have made the horsehair work but the plastic broom parts are much more forgiving to storage, moving the helemt aroun...

Re: Episode I helmet WIP

Re: Episode I helmet WIP

Paint is finished, took it to an autobody shop around the corner from me...it is a ford motors underhood color, can't remember the exact name right now... Next is the crest (i'm so nervous) then a little work in the interior and some foam padding on shoulder area then done! http://i822.photobucket.c...

Episode I helmet WIP

So I have undertaken the episode I helmet and we are nearing completion, just the hardest parts left!! The robes and boots I already have set to go and a forcepike rather than a senate rifle. I may build a rifle later, the resin cast kit I got was way way too heavy. The helmet I got was full of impe...

Re: Senate Guard 'Plumed' Helmet (It Begins)

It's actually not so much the bottom, it's the top that starts to fold over..damn gravity! especially if you do the proper 40-45 degree angle of the top part. Also, the hairs want to seperate and get all crinkly. Some stay, some don't and they never go all the same direction!
